Language learning and practice materials for schools and individuals

About Revilo

REVILO celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2009 and is recognized  as being one of the leading UK language publishers for schools - this despite the fact that it is a tiny enterprise, run from a cottage in a Hampshire village by a husband and wife  team.
Oliver Gray taught languages for over 20 years in a comprehensive school in Winchester, and now concentrates on writing. He is the author of many of the UK’s most popular language course books, including the best-selling LOGO 4 (Heinemann), VOILÀ 4 (Nelson Thornes) and SAG MAL (Longman). Birgit  Gray is a community midwife. When not helping mothers to give birth, she helps to bring language teaching materials into the world.

Unlike the bigger publishers, the partners in Revilo do everything themselves: concept, writing, designing, production, recording, photography, marketing, advertising, selling, not to mention the physical collating and packing of the materials.

The self-service laminated card format is so popular  that Revilo cards are to be found in two-thirds of all UK secondary schools, and a good number of primary schools too. This is not surprising, since the principles of recycling and economy are very appealing to cash-strapped educational institutions. The new, third-generation full-colour cards are just as popular as their monochrome predecessors, many of which remain in use in schools after a decade or more!

Revilo was one of the first publishers to embrace the digital age. All the others have now followed suit, but Revilo remains among the most popular. Our customers tell us that they love our digital resources, just like the cards, because they are practical, straightforward, unfussy, very easy to network and they WORK – unlike many much more expensive and “flashy” resources.

Here’s to the next twenty years!
